Most teachers complain about the reading texts, which are

thought to be too long, too serious, irrelevant to students

interests and overloaded with vocabulary items

Do teachers actually have to undergo such frustrating experience

consisting of doing a trying and fruitless task when teaching

reading comprehension

Teachers should be aware of the margin of freedom in dealing

with their job, and they may feel at ease choosing material as

well as techniques whenever they think it appropriate

Thus, teachers do not really have to be firm in the use of the

textbook for example

Here are some hints which may help the teacher get along with

the reading lesson

You can look for texts in various sources

Choose short texts, not more than two paragraphs

Choose texts with a small number of vacabulary words as texts

with too many words have proved pointless
